With the success of our versatile, high-performance and heavy-duty Universal Oil Coolers, we’ve expanded the lineup to include two new sizes.

Out of the four existing universal-fit sizes, two are made to also be direct upgrades for Porsche IROC front center oil coolers. The new releases also fit air-cooled front bumpers – this time we’ve designed two options for ’73 RS/RSR style.

New Part Numbers & Specifications

  • CSF #8201 Dual-Pass
    • Overall: 22” L x 4.75” H x 2.25” W
    • Core Surface: 18.9″ L x 4.72″ H x 2.25″ W
    • Direct-Fit for Porsche ’73 RS Style Front Bumper

  • CSF #8202 Single-Pass
    • Overall: 22” L x 4.75” H x 2.25” W
    • Core Surface: 18.9″ L x 4.72″ H x 2.25″ W
    • Direct-Fit for Porsche ’73 RSR Style Front Bumper
Porsche Fitment

These two new specific oil coolers have custom end tanks with a 45° front angle, allowing them to fit flush inside ’73-style RS/RSR bumpers. The fittings are pointed straight back. For best airflow and highest performance, CSF recommends cutting the front tub to allow for proper air flow, exiting behind the oil cooler and underneath the vehicle. Cutting the front tub will also give clearance to allow adding a rear fan shroud to pull more air through the cooler at slower speeds or while idling.

This example is of the CSF 911, with front tub cut out and oil cooler installed with a custom fan shroud that houses two 4″ SPAL fans.

Universal Fitment

These oil coolers are commonly utilized for engine oil, transmission oil, power-steering fluid, and differential fluid, plus can be used as a water heat exchanger. These new oil coolers can be mounted horizontally, vertically, as well as parallel to the ground (provided that the oil cooler has proper air-flow).

The longer/shorter rectangular sizing allows the oil coolers to be placed in spaces that don’t have much vertical surface area as well as promotes better airflow to the other components in the cooling system. The durable, heavy-duty bar and plate design can withstand a higher peak burst rate and road debris.

I have a 1974 Porsche 911S with a Ruf “Yellow Bird” replica front bumper. In order to clear the right fog lamp with the hoses, I need a front oil cooler with AN-16 connections on the right end tank on a 45 deg. (approx.) angle. My current cooler has straight AN-16 connections on the right end tank and the top (outlet) connection just barely fouls the fog lamp using a 45deg. AN-16 fitting. If the connection were on an angle, I’m sure it would clear using a straight AN-16 fitting.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks.

    Hi James,

In the near future (end of summer or early fall 2022) we will have an updated version of our Boss Oil Cooler (CSF#8066). The update will change the welded -10 AN male fittings to female M22x1.5 threaded ports. This will be the solution you’re looking for. If you want to email us at info@csfrace.com we can get you one of these new units ASAP.
