Definitely not the outcome we wanted for the #CSFevoX from the @globaltimeattack finals this weekend.
After fighting fuel pressure cut-off issues during our test day yesterday, we went to the parts store last night and came up with a temporary solution for today’s 1st day of competition - @ryan.der from @rywire_motorsport_electronics happened to be on sight this morning, and whipped something up for us to get more power to the fuel pumps.
Pro driver @michaelessa went out for his 1st couple of laps of the 1st session and a fuel line came loose from the fuel rail causing an engine bay fire. He was able to drive the car to the nearest corner station, jumped out, grabbed the fire extinguisher, and was able to put the fire out in under 15 seconds to save the CSF EvoX race car from totally going up in flames. If it wasn’t for Michael, I don’t think there would be a car left to take home. The epitome of quick thinking, a great driver, and a fantastic part of the team.
The fire was isolated to the engine bay. Wiring harness, some hoses, coil packs, and a few other bits will need to be replaced, but for an on-track fire, this is really the best outcome we could hope for and we’re greatful that our driver was unharmed and the car still has another life in it.
Thank you to the great team @motoiq, Brian Kono from After Hours Garage, @michaelessa, @5150_racing , and @eimerengineering for all the hard work this weekend and the months of effort in getting the car ready to race this weekend.
Also a huge shout out to @imsoovertheinternet of @rotiform for getting us 2 sets of new race wheels to give us the best chance of winning on our new @toyotires RS1 slicks (thanks @omgmiata / @iamstanchen) - sorry we couldn’t put them to better use as we were saving them until we were certain all of issues were fixed before going for our home run.
Yesterday we tested with the Porsche owners club, and the Evo was passing GT3 race cars. This car is 98% there to being an amazing time attack car, and we will be back stronger than ever.
Catch the car @players_shows open house at CSF’s headquarters next Sunday (24th) before the rebuild begins to get the car ready for next season 💪🏽
Summer is in full effect and not only is it the busiest time of the year for us here at CSF, but it’s the peak of the car show season. From the cars and coffee weekly meetups and the countless car shows taking place in the summer heat, it’s finally good to be indoors with the AC on blast. Spocom 2019 was a huge success, CSF brought the RUF 996 RTurbo Porsche and the S55 swapped BMW E30 to stage at our booth, both cars rolling in with the radiator fans blasting after just finishing a shoot with Matt Farah’s Smoking Tire, One-Take, check out the video HERE. This year’s show took place in a larger section at the Anaheim Convention Center compared to the previous years. I would think the spacing would be a bit more spread out due to the space, but I was wrong. They took advantage of the extra space and filled every nook and cranny.
Greetings from across the pond!! The Players Classic Show kicked off last weekend at the world-famous Goodwood Motor Circuit in Chichester England. This will be a two-part journey that will take you through both days of the event. If you’ve never experienced this show, I must say it’s one to put on your bucket list. This two-day event begins with a proper car show and track day. The second day they line up a slew of cars on the main straight and pits so there’s plenty to see for every enthusiast. What makes this show interesting for someone from the United States is you get to see a lot of the European exclusive models and it’s great to see some American cars on foreign soil. This is our third year as a sponsor of the event and the CSF brand continues to grow as we see more cars outfitted with CSF cooling products.
With May coming to an end and just a few weeks shy of summer, car shows and caravans are in full swing here in Southern California. CSF geared up and prepared for the 20th year anniversary of Bimmerfest, the largest private BMW gathering in the world. Hosted in our back yard, Auto Club Speedway that is less than 10 minutes away from our headquarters. This is one of the biggest events of the year that we attend considering BMW is our strongest market. Check out our Bimmerfest 2018 recap if you missed it last year. And against the odds, Southern California decided it wanted to show chances of rain in the forecast for the big weekend. Not only was there Bimmerfest to look forward to, but it was also Memorial Day weekend! We had our ponchos on stand-by, set our alarm clocks for the big day and were ready to kick-off the weekend with a bang!
The E30 is a true icon of German engineering and performance. As the years pass by, the prices continue to climb it seems and more enthusiasts want to get their hands on one. To this day I still miss mine, wish I never got rid of it.
CSF’s pursuit of cooling perfection continues with improvements to The Ultimate BMW B58 High Performance Heat Exchanger. As of October 2019, CSF has released a new and improved “Version 2.0” of the BMW B58 Heat Exchanger. Improvements include the following Three (3) key updates:
Upgraded inlet/outlet design with new tapered entry and exit points from end tanks, resulting in optimized water flow and increased performance (matches OEM spec).*
After extensive wind-tunnel, dynamometer (rolling-road test), and field testing, CSF engineers have improved the core spec from Version 1’s 68mm 2-row core with 8mm fin height to Version 2’s Ultra-efficient 42mm 2-row core, with CSF’s B-tube technology, and 6.5mm multi-louvered fin height. *
Increase of 15% more cooling tubes used in the core vs. V1 design for better surface area contact and heat dissipation.
Results in optimized airflow through the heat exchanger core and into other cooling system components for maximum performance of the entire cooling system. (Especially critical if installed in an X-Drive model with transmission oil cooler placed in front of heat exchanger)
CSF V2 design: 2-row 42mm core vs. OEM design: 1-row 26mm core. ~62% increase in core fluid capacity
Now includes hardware mounting kit* for applications that have a factory transmission oil cooler mounted in front of the heat exchanger (X-Drive models) (OEM #17118625431).

The BMW F-series B58 engine is found in a wide array of BMW vehicles (M140i, M240i, 340i, 440i). The motor is similar to the S55 engine found in the latest generation F8x M3/M4 (and new M2 competition) in that it has an indirect water-to-air charge cooling system with a supplemental front mount heat exchanger to cool the water that circulates through the charge cooler. However, unlike the S55 motor, the BMW B58 charge cooler is built into the plastic intake manifold housing. In the meantime of continued development of its high-performance manifold charge cooler, CSF has first released their new BMW B58 heat exchanger for BMW F-Series vehicles. CSF’s new high performance B58 heat exchanger drastically reduces water temperatures in the charge cooling cycle, which in turn reduces and stabilizes the intake air temperatures of the engine. With many unique features, included accessories, and of course, industry-leading performance, it’s without a doubt the best option on the market for every consumer whether it be for a daily driver or a high-performance race car.
It’s about damn time!” That’s what the industry shouted back when they found out that CSF would finally be releasing a high-performance BMW N54 intercooler. Late to the party considering the platform is now over ten years old, but after the overwhelming success of the CSF’s newer BMW n55 intercooler, CSF had to answer the call and supply an industry leading design to address all the shortcomings of not just the OEM unit, but also other aftermarket intercoolers.
Feast your eyes on these two unicorn BMW F11 M5 & F81 M3 Touring Wagons…That’s right, WAGONS! Malte from Carbonfiber Dynamics is the mastermind behind this F11 5 Series Touring Wagon project. The idea was to get a grocery-getter F11 5 Series wagon and do an M5 conversion. Similar projects have been done in the past such as the BMW E39 M5 wagon conversion, an E91 M3 Wagon recently done by LTMW, and the stunning BMW F81 M3 Wagon seen above cooled by CSF as well (we’ll get to this build shortly). Considering the advanced technology in the newer F11 5 Series Touring and the F10 M5, this project will be quite a challenge.
Finding another M2 built like this is like finding a word that rhymes with Orange. The first thing that came to mind when I saw the finished product was Clone Trooper and/or BB8, for all you Star Wars fans out there, you probably thought the same. Nonetheless, this Bavarian barbarian is one of a kind and ready to tear up the track. Read more…
CSF is excited to announce the release of its new BMW E30 oil cooler (also can fit vehicles with M20 engine swaps). CSF’s new technology & featured packed E30 oil cooler is a perfect solution for the growing BMW restoration market. The E30 has become a great platform for engine swaps of all kinds, from S54 BMW motors dropped into the engine bay, all the way to LS engine swaps, everything has been popping up on the scene lately, and CSF is here to keep you cool!
What happens when a car enthusiast decides to have a family? Facing the dilemma of getting rid of a project car to make room for something more practical is not fun at all. Freddy Chang was looking for was something track-worthy and family friendly at the same time. What he ended up building is the Ultimate Family Driving Machine, an E91 M3 wagon. Working closely with So-Cal heavy hitters, LTMW, they’ve managed to trick this wagon out with almost every M3 detail imaginable; everything from the S65 V8 engine swap, with an ESS Tuning VT2-625 supercharger, to the exterior front and rear M3 fenders, and even inside with proper gauge cluseter and shift knob swap! This M wagon checks off all the boxes.
