There is no questioning that the V10 S85 is an amazing motor and the factory radiator does a decent job at keeping the car cool. However, factory replacements can be hard to get at times. The heat produced by the V10 also puts a lot of strain on the cooling system as a whole. A larger and more efficient radiator will help your entire system last longer and perform in the most demanding situations. It is also a much needed upgrade for those running a supercharger system.
The CSF radiator features a 2-Row 42mm aluminum core that not only increases the fluid capacity of the radiator, but also improves the cores ability to dissipate heat. CSF's Exclusive B-Tube Technology increases the heat transfer by approximately 15% over regular oval welded tubes. Between the 6 additional rows of cooling tubes/fins and the thicker 42mm 2 row core, the CSF Radiator will outperform the OEM unit by a significant margin. In addition, the super-efficient multi-louvered fins maximize airflow through the core for the best possible performance. The radiator mounts in the factory location and requires no modifications or cutting.

Design & Engineering
CSF has been making the highest quality High-Performance All-Aluminum Radiators for decades. With an industry-leading reputation and deep knowledge of high-performance BMW cooling systems, it was no surprise when requests came in for an E60 M5 / E6X M6 option.
CSF vs OEM
The factory radiator for the E60 M5 and E6X M6 are pretty nice all aluminum units. While they have proven to be fairly robust, age and additional power tend to push them over the edge. Owners who have superchargers tend to have the most issues with their radiators. Between the extra heat produced with forced induction and the heat exchanger mounting in front of the radiator, the factory radiator is working overtime. The E6X models are also getting close to 20 years old and entering the "future classic" stage of life with many owners doing restorations and updates. Anyone who has restored/updated an older car knows the value of having upgraded parts that are as efficient as possible.

[?] Frequently Asked Questions
The BMW S85 uses a unique radiator setup that comes up quite often in product inquiries. The radiator effectively functions as two radiators in one unit. Each bank of cylinders has its own radiator and thermostat (located in the return flow line). The radiator is divided into an upper and lower system. Cylinders 1-5 (Left Hand Side) flows through the upper system while cylinders 6-10 flow through the lower system (see diagram below).
Make it a package
CSF offers a Race-Spec Engine Oil Cooler for the E6X M5 & M6 (CSF #8275) that perfectly compliments the upgraded Radiator. Whether your M5/M6 is a casual cruiser or a track monster, everyone can benefit from an upgraded oil cooler. Supercharged S85's will benefit the most though as the added power comes at a cost of more heat. High oil temperatures can quickly send a car into limp mode and as well as lead to catastrophic engine damage. The CSF engine oil cooler is also a great preventative maintenance upgrade to avoid costly repairs and extend the longevity of your vehicle.
